Seychelles is working to create greater accessibility for the Chinese travellers, especially now that the destination has seen an increase in the number of inbound travellers from China.

The Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine Maurice Loustau-Lalanne said this during an interview with members of the Chinese press in Shanghai.

“We are delighted that Seychelles has become one of the preferred holiday destinations for Chinese travellers, who are looking for unique, unforgettable experiences,” said Minister Loustau-Lalanne.

Minister Loustau-Lalanne is in China along with the chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) Sherin Francis and members of the tourism trade for the launch of STB’s new marketing campaign for the Chinese market, which will focus on offering a diverse holiday experiences for the high-end travel segment from the tier-one cities of Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Shenzhen.

The media interviews covered the whole of China through a broad spectrum from television, magazines, online news portals to apps; including media houses such as the International Channel Shanghai (ICS) which is the only comprehensive variety television Channel in Mainland China broadcasting in English, Japanese and Mandarin.

Travelling Scope’s ethos was also present. It covers destination guides, hotel reviews and previews, industry news and updates, aiming to serve as a user-friendly guidebook for travellers.

Other press interviews were also with The travel weekly China, one of the most respected and authoritative travel trade publication in China available through multiple platforms which includes print, online and social media.

Another one was The Paper which is an authoritative news portal and app in China that aims to deliver the latest industry trends to readers and covers both domestic and international news, politics, finance, travel, and lifestyle. The two interviews focused on what sets us apart from the competitors, the Seychelles’ offerings and the cultural experience of the destination.

Mrs Francis expressed satisfaction with the media visibility the event created.

“It is very important that we continue to put across the message of what sets us apart from the other beach destinations as I believe we have the right product for the Chinese travellers.”
